Rehearsals in Düsseldorf

Approximately 400 people from almost 20 countries are currently working on the rehearsals for BEN HUR LIVE® in Dusseldorf. The rehearsals to BEN HUR LIVE® in the ISS Dome in Düsseldorf have just started and are now running at full speed. 400 participants, among them actors, extras, dancers, acrobats, engineers, stage hands, logisticians, animal trainers, costume tailors, propmen, the creative team and the ART CONCERTS team, work day and night to make the show a real happening for the audience.

The scenic rehearsals are now done with the complete scenery, including the house of the family Hur, the galleys, the pirate boats and the quadrigas. The galleys were exposed to an unpredictably heavy rain shower outside the arena, but resisted without any damage. The costume tailors eagerly work on the many costumes that have to be finished until the world premiere in London on September 17th 2009. Apart from the rehearsals with the complete ensemble, the actors will also be trained in fighting, horseback riding and dancing. Already now, it is very impressing to see the interaction of the countless actors, dancers and acrobats who turn the stage into a spectacular arena, under the direction of Philip Wm. McKinley.

Furthermore, horse trainer Nicki Pfeifer trains his horses and his two ponies, in the arena as well as outdoors. The climax of the live show will be the legendary chariot race with 5 quadrigas speeding across the arena and electrifying the audience.
